Math Tutoring on Integers
Integers are numbers that belong to the following Set:. We can think of this set as Whole Numbers combined with the nonzero negative Whole Numbers. There are many uses of Negative numbers.
For comparing Integers we use Inequality Notation.
If we plot two numbers on the number line, the larger number is always to the right and the smaller number is to the left.
The Absolute Value of a number is the numerical distance from zero on a number line. The Distance is always positive. We use vertical bars to represent Absolute Value. e.g. .
Opposites are two numbers that are the same distance from zero on the number line. This means they would have the same Absolute Value also.
