Sometimes when we try to simplify an Expression inside parentheses, we can’t because the terms are not Like Terms, the Distributive Property provides a way to eliminate the parentheses.
The Distributive Property:
The Distributive Property states when we multiply a factor and a sum or difference, we multiply the factor by each term of the sum or difference.
An Expression, in which some or all of the terms contain variables, is an Algebraic Expression or Variable Expression. If the value of the variables is known, we can evaluate the Expression.
To evaluate an Algebraic or Variable Expression, substitute the value of the variables into the Expression. Then evaluate using the Order of Operations.
Order of Operations:
1. Parentheses and Grouping.
3. Multiplication and Division from left to right.
4. Addition and Subtraction from left to right.
