__Math Tutoring on Evaluating Expressions using the Order of Operations__

Sometimes when we try to simplify an **Expression** inside parentheses, we can’t because the terms are not Like Terms, the Distributive Property provides a way to eliminate the parentheses.

*The Distributive Property:*

**The ****Distributive Property** states when we multiply a factor and a sum or difference, we multiply the factor by each term of the sum or difference.

An **Expression****,** in which some or all of the terms contain variables, is an **Algebraic Expression** or **Variable Expression****.** If the value of the variables is known, we can evaluate the **Expression.**

To evaluate an **Algebraic **or** Variable Expression**, substitute the value of the variables into the **Expression**. Then evaluate using the **Order of Operations****.**

*Order of Operations:*

1. Parentheses and Grouping.

2. Exponents.

3. Multiplication and Division from left to right.

4. Addition and Subtraction from left to right.
